Ana Rosa Hopkins is an Argentinian-born British artist based in Manchester. She graduated from The Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University where she received her Master of Fine Arts (merit) in 2010. Ana is currently undertaking a PhD by Practice entitled ‘The back-story in contemporary sculptural practice: material, history and action and the legacy of Joseph Beuys’ at Manchester Metropolitan University, MIRIAD
Her work has been exhibited in the UK and internationally in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Holland, Finland, Brazil. She has been invited to undertake many international residencies and teaching projects. In 2015 she undertook a three week project with students at the Tianjin, Academy of Fine Art, China at the invitation of the Municipal Government. In 2014 she was invited on the international artist residency programme at the contemporary art space Plataforma Revolver, Lisbon, Portugal and awarded a four month residency at the Royal Glass Factory in La Granja, Segovia. Ana’s work was selected for the International Festival of Glass, British Glass Biennale 2015. Her piece, 'Manchester (09.08.2011)' was acquired by the Harris Museum in September 2015 presented by the Contemporary Arts Society through The Omega Fund. Ana won the neo:artprize 2012 and was awarded a NADFAS North West Artists Bursary in 2010.
